ISRO INUSTRIAL VISIT-SEMESTER 7
-Jeena Francis S7 ECE
In this technology driven era, knowledge is not just about studying the theoretical aspects, but also understanding the things by seeing it. Industrial visit aims to achieve this. We the students of s7 ECE of Vimal Jyothi Engineering College conducted an Industrial Visit on 1st November 2013 at ISRO Trivandrum. At 10.30am we entered in the museum. At the entrance itself we got the history about its foundation .From there we entered into a new world of different types of satellite models and their parts. At first we see the PSLV section and then the GSLV session. Along with the guide our staff also explained a lot about the satellites. Then we stepped to a video show which clearly shows the different stages in the launch of a satellite. It was really a good experience to all. The next section was about the applications of satellites. There we saw schematic representation of various applications which include communication, medical, military, rescue etc..Industrial visit was really an experience for us and we got many information about satellite and its launching process.

Different simulators which are able to produce vibrations, sudden temperature changes, high temperature up to 180°c and low temperature up to -70°c are used for this testing process. The engineers make sure that computers can work in these drastic conditions.
KINFRA Park consists of many small industries like granite cutting, plastic bag making, floor tiles production etc. Big cutters of diameter e about 1m are used for cutting granite rocks. These are then polished and used for flooring. Polyethylene is used in making plastic bags. The granule form chemical is heated and made into thin plastic films and then plastic bags are made.

The session handled by three eminent staffs- Ms.Lineeta Gloria, Mr.Sandeep and Mr.Adarsh, enlightened the students about their future career prospective. The session was motivational and inspired the students to think about their future career & also on the preparation of resumes.
The session started with a video on “EAGLES” opened the minds of the students to the challenges that are to be faced in the real world. It inspired the students to survive in this competitive world without failure. Another motivational video instilled in the minds of the students that success is the fruit of hard work.
The resume of a person is in itself a complete picture of the person. It provides personal information, achievements, subject knowledge, hobbies, etc of a person. Hence resume plays a vital role in interviews. The layout of a resume is also very important as a person is judged by their resume. The program provided a clear view on the need for preparing a good resume. The program also included mock interviews which helped the students.
